Didi Doolittle

“It felt like family right from the start. It felt like I was in the right place.”

Didi Doolittle’s father owned a little condo in East Vail. And every time she came out to visit, she joked that it kept on getting prettier and more picture perfect than the time before. She found herself visiting more and more often. Until one day, she and her husband decided it was time to stay for good. Didi had a background in theater production, and she had developed a knack for fixing and flipping homes on the side. So she got her real estate license. And then she got connected with Slifer Smith & Frampton through an old high school friend. “You come across those kinds of connections here all the time,” says Didi. “It felt like family right from the start. It felt like I was in the right place.”

Why is it important to you to work for a locally focused real estate company?

I grew up in a small town in the Midwest. Over the years, I saw lots of big companies come in and take things over. Seeing those dollars leave our community was disappointing. With Slifer Smith & Frampton, all of the dollars created by our local efforts stay here in Colorado. And everyone who works with us stays within our communities, too. That means a lot to me.

What’s your favorite Colorado spot?

My backyard! I’m not even kidding. It’s a gathering spot for friends and family. We have an amazing group of friends here in our neighborhood. We call it ‘FAC’ — Friday Afternoon Club. We have potlucks, barbecues…all kinds of fun. We don’t have immediate family out here, so our friends are our family. And our backyard holds many fond memories for us.

Is there a local cause that is important to you?

There are a couple of great non-profit theater companies here in Eagle. Porchlight Players and Vail Valley Theater Company. It’s all run by locals who have a variety of experiences in theater management and acting. We convert rentals into dinner theaters and put on productions in local parks. It’s great fun watching the community come together and experience an all-star production that’s locally run and locally supported.
