Why do you love the communities where you live and work?

I came here because of the beautiful Rocky Mountains. I stay because of the amazing people who have chosen to make the Vail valley home, whether for a few days, or a lifetime. The diversity of the people here and the environment is what makes it so interesting each and every day. From the history of the pioneers who came to the valley to ranch and farm, to the passionate creators of the ski resorts and the generations who have followed, the valley offers a unique blend of committed, community-minded people.  I can’t wait to see what will be achieved in the years to come.

What’s your favorite Colorado spot?

Home! But I truly enjoy taking road trips to Colorado’s less visited locations like Crestone, considered one of the “vortex” spots of our state!

Is there a local cause that is important to you?

I have been involved in many education and social causes in our communities over the last 40 years including serving on the Eagle County School board, starting the Colorado Mountain College HERO scholarships program, and developing many of the educational programs at the Vail Valley Foundation. I believe that our country and our community are only as strong as its education systems.

Most recently, I served as President of the Bright Future Foundation whose mission it is to address domestic violence, sexual assault and trafficking issues in our valley. In that capacity, it was a privilege to work with a tremendous board and talented leadership to achieve the construction and opening of The BrightHouse, a nationally recognized domestic violence shelter.

Lastly, as a cancer survivor, I was blessed to have access to the services and dedication of the Shaw Cancer Center providers, a wonderful facility where I now serve as a volunteer.
